{"id":249,"date":"2022-06-03T10:59:55","date_gmt":"2022-06-03T10:59:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/iskconeducation.org\/?page_id=249"},"modified":"2025-08-19T05:08:10","modified_gmt":"2025-08-19T05:08:10","slug":"books-are-the-basis","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/iskconeducation.org\/it\/books-are-the-basis\/","title":{"rendered":"Books are the Basis"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>At the Sanga of GBCs, Gurus and Sannyasis held in 2015, it was noted that a survey conducted by the GBC had revealed that&nbsp;less than 17% of ISKCON leaders actually read Srila Prabhupada\u2019s books regularly.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It became apparent that although Srila Prabhupada&nbsp;had repeatedly&nbsp;emphasised the importance of his books and requested every member of ISKCON to read and train others in systematically studying them, many devotees were finding themselves falling short of the standard he expected of them.<br><br>Recognising the critical nature of the situation at hand, the Ministry of Education, with the blessings of the GBC body introduced&nbsp;<strong>\u201cBooks Are The Basis\u201d<\/strong>&nbsp;as&nbsp;a project designed to actualise Srila Prabhupada\u2019s desire to see his books once again be placed at the centre of ISKCON\u2019S devotees spiritual lives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:32px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-center\"><strong>GBC Resolution &#8211; 2020 (303.03)<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><strong>Enhancing the Culture of Reading Srila Prabhupada\u2019s Books Globally<\/strong><br><em>[Action Order]<br>(Proposed by Srivas Das (BTS) and Tapana Mishra Dasa (BVKS) and sponsored by Sesa Das and Prahladananda Swami)<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Whereas at the 2015 Sanga of GBCs, Gurus and Sannyasis, it was noted that a survey had revealed that less than 17% of ISKCON leaders read Srila Prabhupada\u2019s books regularly;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Whereas at the 2017 edition of the SGGS it was also felt there should be a worldwide effort to increase reading of Srila Prabhupada\u2019s books;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Whereas Srila Prabhupada had many times emphasized the importance of his books and requested the leaders of ISKCON to read his books and train others to systematically study his books;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Whereas Srila Prabhupada had declared on a number of occasions;
