ISKCON Ministry of Education

Viplavah, ISKCON Ministry of Education’s quarterly journal, seeks to publish articles that inspires educators in their service and brings them closer to fulfilling Srila Prabhupada’s vision. The journal gives regular updates about the activities of the ministry and the various educational initiatives around the world in ISKCON. It showcases success stories and is a platform where devotees involved in education can share their realizations and experiences.

Dear Educators Please accept our humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada! At the outset, we wish and pray for your safety and well-being amidst the ongoing pandemic of COVID-19. As the World witnesses disturbance and turmoil, the mercy given by Vaishnava Parampara is our saving grace. By the grace of the Lord and blessings of devotees, we intend to release a special issue of our Quarterly Journal VIPLAVAH on the all-auspicious Nrisimha Chaturthi. The proposed title for this issue is RAISING PRAHALADA-LIKE CHILDREN [Special issue on children's education]. In this regard, we invite you to contribute to this issue of VIPLAVAH as per the following details:
  • Contribution Type: Articles, New Items, Event Coverages, Announcements, Key developments, Poems, literary contributions, art-work (restricted to children below 16 years of age).
  • Topics could include (but not limited to): children's schools, education models for children, home-schooling, role of parents and teachers in educating children, reading of books, Imbibing Vedic culture, it takes a village to raise a child (community), role of temples in bringing up devotee children, challenges and solutions.
  • Proposed Theme of the issue: RAISING PRAHALADA-LIKE CHILDREN [Special issue on children's education]
  • Proposed title of your article: You may choose appropriately

  • Please submit the article via the given submission list only. Should you desire to contribute, a word of confirmation in acceptance will be appreciated by 08-April-2020.     GUIDELINES for submission
    A. Ask yourself these questions:
    1. Is the overall theme of the article clear?
    2. Is the topic of the article suitable for Viplavah Journal?
    3. Is this relevant to the contemporary audience and written for them?
    4. Does the article flow logically? Are the transitions clear and natural?
    5. Is there extraneous material that should be cut or made into a sidebar?
    6. Does my / our voice sound intelligent and reasonable, rather than naive or fanatical?
    7. Is this article serving at least one purpose of ISKCON?
    8. Is the matter relevant, contemporary and yet presenting a Vedic idea?
    B. Word Limit:
    1. 1500 words without figures.
    2. Each figure / photograph / graphic shall be counted at the rate of 200 words / item. Commensurately the wordings will be adjusted.
    3. For example if you have two pictures, then the word count would be 2500 - 2x200 = 2100 Words.
    C. Language
    1. Please use Tahoma 12 size font only.
    2. Please use English (USA or UK) as default language.
    3. Use “Left Justified”; 1-inch margins on all four sides.
    4. Please Spell & Grammar check the article before submitting (preferably set to English-US or English-UK).
    D. Referencing
    1. Clearly cite scriptural references. Please cite references if you are using them and follow a uniform style of referencing such as:
       Gingell, John and Christopher Winch (eds.) (2008) Philosophy of Education: The Key Concepts. Abingdon: Routledge.
       Halstead, J. Mark (2012) “Faith Schools” in L. Philip Barnes (ed.) Debates in Religious Education, 98-108. Abingdon: Routledge.
    E. Images / Graphics / Graphs / Pictures
    1. Should be legible, readable and of decent resolution for publication.
